Inspiration and influence

I've been playing all kinds of musical styles myself over the years, and I've also learned to appreciate good music and good musicians in a variety of styles and genres.

But I started out with rock/pop, and through my early teenage years my main sources of inspiration were artists like The Beatles, Queen/Brian May, Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler, Deep Purple/RitchieBlackmore(/Rainbow),

(Eddie)Van Halen, Thin Lizzy and Eric Clapton, to mention a few.                                                                              Many of these are still among my favourites today, but my musical horizon has been significantly widened since then.  It doesn't really matter which genre of music it is,  as long as it sounds good to my ears.   I particularly appreciate live music performed by great musicians, for instance I've had many great live experiences at the local jazz festivals Molde International Jazz Festival and Midtsommerjazz in Ålesund.  I find that jazz concerts often give me the greatest live experiences, when highly accomplished musicians improvise and create unique once-in-a-lifetime musical moments.

I also appreciate classical music, with J.S.Bach as one of my favourites
